XL to XS : Postpartum journey of a smart Mom
Hello everyone, this is my first blog and I wish to share how to be” fab” from” flab” postpartum . Well to begin with, I am a mother of a 6 month old and i weigh just 45 kilos, which goes pretty well with my 5 ft and 3 inches stature. Yes, take a breath !! it is possible to lose as much as 10 to 15 kilos post postpartum. Come pregnancy and its the divine period to indulge in the utmost pampering of delightful meals accompanied with sinful cravings for relishing desserts and the outcome is a wardrobe reform to XL or may be XXL and so on. But new moms nothing to worry and you don’t have to be too harsh on yourself for those extra kilos, as they can be shed with ease by following a simple diet regime and exercise.
10 DO’ S
1. Check your weight post postpartum and set a goal . Be realistic in setting goals and keep it at par with Pre pregnancy weight.
2. Breast feed your child exclusively as it helps to burn as much as 300 to 500 calorie per day.
3. Consume 8-10 glasses of water a day, it frees your body from toxins. Make a habit of sipping a glass of water or juice each time you breast feed your baby.
4. Get power naps in between instead of long sleep
5. Start your day with meditation and simple stretching exercises for upper back, neck, arms and leg.
6. Go for a low Carbohydrate and high Protein diet, add plenty of fiber in the form of salads and fresh fruit. But gorge into your favorite food once a week to break the monotony.
7. Increase frequency of serving instead of gulping huge meals at a time. Munching a few almonds, having a whole fruit or a glass of milk helps in fighting the hunger pangs between meals.
8. Keep a simple workout regime, there is no such thing called spot reduction and abdominal fat is the last one to go. Make walking fun by taking your baby out in stroller and have a medium paced walk with breaks in between. Add pelvic bridges, abdominal tucks, single leg raises and hip rotation exercises to reduce torso. I prefer exercise to be totally customized and you yourself decide the frequency and duration of exercise based on the degree of exertion you perceive. Also any form of weight training is a simple no-no after child birth.
9. Get a makeover done, it can be anything from cutting your hair, styling or coloring it or simply pampering with a good hair or body spa.
10. Above all feel good from within. Be confident and proud of you, as motherhood is divine. Babysit but also find time for yourself. Reunite with old friends, go clubbing and indulge in shopping or simply read a novel and find time to re explore your forgotten hobbies.
Life is beautiful and make the most of it..... happy parenting!!!
